S3E1 Lessons From Our Youth (AI written and voiced episode)

S3E1 Lessons From Our Youth (AI written and voiced episode)

This episode of the Reaching For The Middle podcast is an experiment of generative AI technology.  Using the platform ChatGPT the instruction was "Write a 5 minute Reaching For The Middle podcast episode about learning from the mistakes of our youth, and lessons we learned as adults".  The unedited result was then converted from text to speech using the platform Revoicer. The video version used Dall-E, an AI art generator that has a similar interface to ChatGPT.  The regular host and producer of the RFTM podcast, James Donison, then wrote an intro and extro, passed it through Revoicer, and the cut it all together with royalty free music in Final Cut Pro. James took the AI art and created a moving mouth for the video.

[Intro music]
The following "reaching for the middle" podcast episode has been created using generative AI. Following the instructions pause "Write a 5 minute podcast episode about learning from the mistakes of our youth, and lessons we learned as adults." ChatGPT wrote the episode, Text to Speech app voiced it, and, if you're watching the visual version, the AI visual creation interface  DALL-E designed some of the artwork, and your regular Reaching For The Middle host, James Donison, gave it life using a Final Cut Pro editing plug-in.

Has AI advanced enough to host a podcast? Or is there still something that doesn't feel natural about it? Like CGI from 80's movies. Let's hear from our future robotic overlord.

[Transformer sound effect]

Host: Hello and welcome to the "Reaching for the Middle" podcast, where we explore the balance between our past experiences and future aspirations. Today's topic is all about learning from the mistakes of our youth and the valuable lessons we have learned as adults.

[Segment 1]

Host: We all have memories of our teenage years and early adulthood, filled with experiences and decisions that shaped who we are today. But let's be honest, not all of those memories are positive. We've all made mistakes, whether it was something as small as skipping class or as big as making a bad investment.

But the good news is that we can learn from those mistakes and find balance as we reach for the middle. By reflecting on what went wrong and what we could have done differently, we can gain valuable insights that can help us make better decisions in the future.

[Segment 2]

Host: For example, many of us can remember times when we put off studying for a test or procrastinated on a big project. As a result, we didn't do as well as we hoped or felt overwhelmed with stress.

But as we've grown older and gained more experience, we've learned the importance of time management and setting priorities. By finding a balance and making these lessons a habit, we're able to achieve our goals and live a more productive and fulfilling life.

[Segment 3]

Host: Another common mistake of our youth is being too impulsive and not thinking things through. Whether it was a spontaneous purchase or a snap decision to take a gap year, these choices can have long-term consequences that we might not have considered at the time.

But as we've matured, we've learned to weigh the pros and cons of a decision before jumping in. By reaching for the middle and finding balance in our decision-making, we can make smarter choices and avoid regret in the future.

[Segment 4]

Host: Finally, many of us can remember times when we were too focused on what others thought of us. Whether it was trying to fit in with a particular group or seeking validation from others, this kind of thinking can lead us down a path that doesn't align with our values and goals.

But as we've grown and found confidence in ourselves, we've learned to value our own opinions and make choices that align with our own desires and aspirations. By reaching for the middle and finding balance between outside validation and our own beliefs, we can lead a more authentic and fulfilling life.

[Outro]

Host: So there you have it, the lessons we can learn from the mistakes of our youth and the importance of reaching for the middle. Whether it's time management, careful decision-making, or valuing our own opinions, these lessons can help us lead a more productive and fulfilling life.

Thank you for joining us today on the "Reaching for the Middle" podcast. Until next time, stay curious and keep learning.
